Design Review Process

Proposed changes to physical environment of campus property including building exterior, landscape renovations, or other site improvements need to be reviewed by the Design Review Team (DRT). This committee was established by the Chancellor in 1989 to review and advise on proposed building sites, schematic building designs and landscape elements, street furniture and signage, and design refinements after schematic design approval including final exterior material and color specifications.

Approval by this review body is a prerequisite for submittal to CPEC (Campus Physical and Environmental Committee) for formal approval on sites and building designs.

Supporting documentation including project description(s), photographs and/or accompanying exhibits (visual simulations, site plan, etc.) should be sent to Matt Deines with the Office of Environmental Planning & Sustainability Staff at mdeines@uci.edu.

The DRT Meetings are held monthly. Should items of urgent matter require attention between meetings dates, our office will notify the committee via email. Below is existing policy:
